On a special Inland Sessions.
I got to grow so I got to go gotta leave home.
I hit the open...
Spoken word artist B.Lyte offers up an evening of powerful performance poetry.
Life's good.
Grounded by her band, B.Lyte promises to lift her rhythmic poetry to new heights.
B.Lyte liftoff Look life's good I swear to God I promise you little homie just follow your heart life's good.
I swear to God.
I promise you.
Little homie just follow your heart.
And it gets hard.
I swear to God.
But don't give up you can beat the odds And it gets hard.
I swear to God.
But don't give up.
You can beat the odds.
Mind race back and forth pacin been feeling complacent, wanna to do something amazing but can't even get down to basics.
How can that be the greatest If all my energy wasted on mindless behavior.
Subpar entertainment.
Life changes don't think imma make it.
Don't think I could take it just to complicate it.
Too much anticipation Anxiety got me froze up Wish time could slow up Don't want to be a grown up But it's time to grow up Got to show up for myself If I want to excel, prioritize my mental health Too much abundance to be living in hell too much abundance to be living in hell life's good, I swear to God.
I promise you lil homie Just follow your heart life's good I swear that God, I promise you lil homie just follow your heart And it gets hard, I swear to God.
But don't give up you can't beat the odds And it gets hard I swear to God but don't give up You can't beat the odds Let's celebrate Let's elevate to a higher place only looking back to learn from my mistakes Ain't upset No regrets When things didn't go our way It's just meant It wasn't meant to be wasn't in our destiny Still chasing this dream still accomplishing goals Go through highs and lows Ebbs and flows Stay ten toes down World still spinning around Lost in the crowd Had to figure it out Own worst critic had to show myself Grace Understand It's OK Tomorrow's a new day Face my fears Be great Life's good I swear to God I promise you lil homie just follow your heart And it gets hard I swear to God But don't give up You could beat the odds My name is B.Lyte Thank you for having me tonight I am accompanied with my drummer TD the drummer 206 Shout out to my UNC right there and then we have Mr. Owuor Arunga with the musical design and on the trumpet.
And we have an amazing show for you tonight and we're excited.
This next piece is called My Rediscovery B.Lyte liftoff honestly, it's a blessing to have so many people love me and it's crazy because at times I don't even love me.
When I look in the mirror, what I see is so ugly.
I just want to turn around and start running.
But I can't run from me because I'm trapped internally.
I just want to be free.
I just want to be free.
I wish I had wings so I could jump off a cliff and instead of falling to my death, I would fly in the wind.
I soar in the skies finally feel alive.
No longer haunted by the thoughts of wanting to die.
But what if I fly and my wings they stop working I jump right out of the sky and fall on another person.
Even if I'm hurting, it doesn't make it OK to hurt someone else.
And honestly, it's not even just even justifiable to hurt myself.
That's why I transform this negative energy into positive creativity.
Only good vibes.
Everyone in my proximity shout out to my friends and my family.
Thanks for always supporting me.
I always believed in myself.
But you're assurance It's meant more to me.
I know I've said some nasty things that really hurt feelings, but that's because I was hurting and my motives were transformed into that of a villains I just wanted to cause pain and destruction to as many people as I could, but I wasn't evil I was misunderstood.
I did not know how to properly channel my emotions, so I spewed out poison.
But now I have discovered the antidote.
I cherish my life because there's hope.
It gets better.
Things really do change.
So appreciate the good times I had to experience pain and I'll never be the same but I'll always remember who I was.
I used to be filled with so much hate, but now I realize that hate is just undiscovered love.
We must rediscover ourselves because we get lost in this life.
We get distracted and only focus on sights.
We find justification in what we see.
It's all an illusion.
When we see something, we automatically jump to conclusions.
But it's not what we see.
It's what we feel.
And love is the only way to know that it's real.
Love, love, love, love, love, love.
L-O-V-E, L-O-V-E, L-O-V-E, L-O-V-E, e, L-O-V-E, L-O-V-E. Love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, This next piece is called Black Lives Matter and this message really means a lot to me, so I'm very excited to perform it for you tonight.
Let's get it O. just know I am a visionary.
I am a revolutionary, and we are sick and tired of being in the obituary But we will not let this dream die.
Our vision for the future will become alive, black, white, and all in between with their fists held high, all in recognition of black life, black lives matter.
And yes, we do understand that all lives matter, too.
But obviously there are still too many people confused because black men, women and children are being killed in the streets, murdered in cold blood by the crooked police.
So you see so many of us do not understand what this thing Black Lives Matter means because obviously society does not value black lives.
We must use hashtag Black Lives Matter just to drill the concept in their minds.
So many forget that black lives are not something that can just be thrown away.
There is no justice.
Murderers walk free instead of being locked away.
Black lives matter.
But don't get it messed up.
No one deserves to be murdered in cold blood.
Black, white, Asian, Mexican, Indian, whatever the color of your skin.
At the end of the day, we are all human and we all deserve the preservation of life.
But don't get it twisted.
Black people should not be afraid to die because if they get pulled over by a cop, they might get shot and die.
Black Lives Matter.
And you could say that I am biased because I am one of those black lives.
But am I wrong for caring about my own kind, for caring about my own kin, for caring about people with my same skin?
If we don't support our own, then who will make America great again?
Please America was founded on degradation and sin.
Black Lives Matter, and that's a concrete fact.
So if any of you want to belittle this movement, then you can go back.
You can go back to wherever it is that you came from.
Because, as I recall, this isn't your native land either.
We didn't ask to come here.
We were forced.
But guess what?
We're not leaving because our ancestors literally put their blood, sweat and tears into this soil.
This is our home now.
And it is our duty to make them proud.
We must support our own because no one else will.
Black lives matter.
It's either kill or be killed.
And I don't condone violence.
There are plenty of other ways.
So please comprehend the metaphors I am attempting to convey.
Survival of the fittest.
Social Darwinism.
Do I even need to explain?
If we do not evolve to the environment, then we will decay.
Because year after year they are killing us at a higher rate.
But you want to know something even worse is we kill our own people even faster.
I don't know.
Which makes it even sadder when we say black lives matter.
So do black lives.
Actually, matter.
As a matter of fact, they do.
But until we lead as examples, it will keep killing us just as examples to prove that this country never truly changed, that black people still remain slaves.
Black Lives Matter, and the solution is not in evolution.
Throughout history, the only way to be for change is through revolution.
And as I stated previously, I am a revolutionary.
So the revolution has begun, and I hope you all will join me.
Black lives matter Power 2 the Poetry.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Prioritize your mental health.
Believe in yourself.
Prioritize your mental health.
Prioritize your mental health.
Prioritize your mental health.
Believe in yourself B.Lyte liftoff.
Look beautiful butterfly.
Come out of your cocoon, spread your wings and fly to the moon possibilities endless universe infinite emerge from the shadows and be magnificent, be magnificent, be magnificent Emerge from the shadows and be magnificent Meditate on becoming great.
Don't hesitate when I make mistakes.
Every day is a chance for change, evolving So I'm not the same every day I get a little bit better.
Calm under pressure.
Adversity hits I still keep my head.
What has to keep my head up Yeah, self love is the best love so I show my self love look in the mirror Hey, give myself a hug.
Affirmation is in between every breath in my lungs And tension know we're every word Spoken from my tongue Know my blessings Gonna come Visualize everything I ever want Yeah it's all love, it's all love, it's all love, it's all love Thoughts become things So believe in your Thoughts become things So believe in your Thoughts become things so believe in your, thoughts become things so believe in your dreams it's I love how.
Naturally at a state of peace Whatever we give our energy towards is what we receive shift my mindset.
To a higher frequency.
So why manifest positivity.
I go beyond infinity do it legitimately no need to be under the influence to have influence over my conscience Conquer my monsters Embrace all the darkness because I hold the knowledge to realize absence of light is in illusion, revealing a conclusion that is proving harmony can be achieved when we start trying to see with our eyes and rationalize Instead use our inner light, as a guide, It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, Now Thoughts become things so believe in your, Thoughts become things so believe in your, Thoughts become things so believe in your Thoughts become things so believe in your dreams It's all love.
You can do anything.
You can be anything Follow your dreams We kings and we queens All royalty So we are royalty.
It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, It's all love, Beautiful butterfly Come out your cocoon Spread your wings and fly to the moon possibilities endless universe Infinite emerge from the shadows and be magnificent I'm done fighting back my tears I now choose to embrace them My demons I didn't face them I no longer internalize hatred I'm tremendously grateful So I always say thank you, absolutely appreciative Just know that I'm thankful for all the blessings this universe provided.
I look toward the future, never short sighted embrace opportunities, never indecisive, never undecided because no task is too giant.
What we focus on expands.
So for me, I choose to focus on statements of I am, I can, I will, I do.
I want, I love because our thoughts become things.
So I believe in my dreams I have control over my own reality, enjoying the positive energies of those who share my same mentality.
Good Vibrations is what I choose this around me.
I practice meditation, allowing for me to maintain my consciousness, so I remain an optimist.
Yet, girl, don't quit had do the exact opposite.
Failure is not a consequence.
I use what I learn to propel like a rocket ship there is no limitations for ambition and confidence.
I set my goals and then I accomplish them.
I treasure the gifts I've been given all the souls who listen to my poetry, the words I speak stemming from my intuition emitting an aura of abundance and love.
So I glisten no longer holding onto negative beliefs.
Practice what I preach, live what I teach.
Lyte she is me.
I close my eyes and I still see I'm tapped into the frequency.
But nah I'm not perfect.
Sometimes I slip up but I always get up.
I don't beat myself up.
Instead, I choose to show myself love Remember setbacks lead to breakthroughs.
So when adversity is present, Let us all prefer to say thank you.
Practice what you preach.
Tap into the frequency.
Peace.
B.Lyte.
